Causes of Diabetes
Type 2-diabetes is the most common form of diabetes found in adults. It also increasingly affects children as childhood obesity increases. In type 2 diabetes, your body does not use insulin properly. This is called insulin resistance. At first, the pancreas makes extra insulin to make up for it. But, over time your pancreas is not able to keep up and can not make enough insulin to keep your blood glucose levels normal.
Ingredients health benefit
Oregano leaves oil:
In a study conducted by researchers from the American Chemical Society and published in Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, oregano was found to inhibit an enzyme, dipeptidyl peptidase IV that promotes the secretion of insulin. Protein tyrosine phosphatase which plays a role in insulin signaling has led researchers to conclude that the oregano herb could be useful in preventing diabetes.
Basil Leaves oil:
Basil (Ocimum sanctum) is also known as Holy basil or Tulsi. Some studies have found that holy basil has cholesterol lowering properties and may reduce both total cholesterol and triglyceride levels. High cholesterol levels put a diabetic at a greater risk for developing cardiovascular issues such as hardened arteries and strokes. Holy basil leaf extract can help normalize blood sugar and cholesterol levels. The leaves of the holy basil plant contain essential oils that yield eugenol, methyl eugenol and caryophyllene and they also yield other substances such as ursolic acid and apigenin. Researchers have theorized that holy basil leaves may improve pancreatic beta cell function and thus enhance insulin secretion.
Olive oil:
Extra virgin, first cold pressed olive oil lowers blood sugar and LDL bad cholesterol after meals. It contains healthier types of fats (omega-6, omega-3, mono and poly-unsaturated fatty acids). Olive oil contains phytosterols, a type of plant substance that helps maintain heart health because it inhibits the absorption of cholesterol from food and lowers the amount of LDL bad cholesterol. Olive oil is rich in antioxidants such as oleocanthal and oleouropein. Antioxidants can help reduce the damage that is due to the oxidative stress caused by high levels of sugar in the blood and in that way, reduce the risk of the complications of diabetes, including diabetic neuropathy, retinal neuropathy, high blood pressure and heart related problems.
Coconut oil:
Extra virgin coconut oil contains medium-chain fatty acids that are smaller and more easily absorbed which relieves stress on pancreas. It improves insulin secretion and utilization of blood glucose, as well as a lowering of total cholesterol levels. Coconut oil helps in absorption of other nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. It contains caprylic acid, capric acid, and lauric acid that are good for your health. It helps relieve symptoms and reduce health risk associated with diabetes.
Safflower oil:
First cold pressed Safflower oil can improve insulin sensitivity, lower cholesterol level and inflammation in certain people with Type 2 diabetes. As reported by DiabetesSelfManagement.com in 2009. Previous research by the same team showed that safflower oil also reduced abdominal fat, increased muscle tissue and lowered fasting blood glucose levels. The researchers also discovered that safflower oil increased insulin sensitivity by about 2.7% in Type 2 diabetes and decreased hemoglobin A1C by 0.64%. Furthermore, the levels of C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation in the body, also decreased by about 17.5%. Additionally, the safflower oil led to a 14.0% increase in HDL (“good”) cholesterol. It contains linoleic acid, a polyunsaturated fatty acid which can help protect against heart disease.
Black seed oil:
Black seed (Nigella sativa) or Black cumin or Black caraway extracts help inhibit the absorption of glucose in the intestines and improve glucose tolerance, according to a study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology in 2009. Another, study in a 2009 in Journal of Pharmacology” reveals that black seed extracts reduce damage to beta cells in the pancreas, which are responsible for the production of insulin. This might lower the risk of type 2 diabetes, the study says. An article was published in the Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism in (2011) reconfirms that thymoquinone found in black seeds can increase the insulin sensitivity of liver cells, which helps prevent type 2 diabetes. Black seed extracts also possess significant antioxidant activity and might protect the pancreatic cells against the harmful effects of free-radicals. Black seed oil reduces fasting glucose, decrease insulin resistance, increase beta-cell function and reduces glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c).
